Today’s Wordle answers shouldn’t be too difficult. It has some fairly common letters. But if it tripped you up, keep reading.

Daily Wordle tips
I’ve written a lot about Wordle — from covering the 1,000th word to my list of the best beginner words to useful two-step strategies to news about controversial word changes. I’ve also compiled what I’ve learned playing popular online word puzzles for a whole year. So, if you’re rethinking your need for real answers, you can try a tip from one of those stories.

Still need an introduction? One person told me that they just look around and pick a five-letter object they see to use as their starting word — like SARA or CHAIR. I tend to stick to the beginning words that have the most popular letters used in English words. I like TRAIN for starters, although I have friends who use TRAIL. I’ve read that people use the financial term ROATE, but I like to use words I actually know.

What is Wordle?
If you’ve read this far, you know how to play. You have six chances to guess a five-letter word, and the game gives you feedback on whether the letter you guessed is in the puzzle or not, and if it’s in the same place you guessed it to be. The New York Times bought the game from creator Josh Wardle for seven figures in 2022. Wardle famously created the game for his partner, and let him whittle the 12,000 five-letter words in the English language down to just 2,500, creating a database of answers. It’s also nice that he has a name that plays on “words.”

A Times spokesperson told me it listed the first Wordle appearing on June 19, 2021, and the paper celebrated the game’s 1,000th word on March 15. Spoiler: The 1000th word is ERUPT. As in, “Dad will explode if Wordle is so hard he loses his streak.”

There are other fun games in the Times Games stable. My latest addiction is Connections, which I think is more complicated than Wordle. This is a game where you look at a grid of 16 words and try to fit them into four groups of related words. Sometimes the connections between words are beautiful out there — like the time four words all start with rock bands, like “Rushmore” and “journeyman.” (The extension gets a little cheesy on April Fools’ Day with a puzzle full of emojis. Some players do NOT find that funny.)

Spelling Bee is a popular Times game as well. And there’s a new game still in beta, Strands, that I’m trying to master.
