What is the best Android phone?
The battery life of the $800 Samsung Galaxy S24 is impressive. That’s not the only reason it’s our pick for the best Android phone. It gets major Android updates for seven years and the camera is good (there’s even a 3x telephoto lens for zooming). Then there are all the AI features: most are just OK, but Circle to Search is brilliant. Samsung didn’t reinvent the phone, but it took a great phone (Galaxy S23) and made it better.
There are plenty of other excellent options out there, though the Pixel 8 is our current favorite.
Samsung Galaxy S24
What impressed me most about the Samsung Galaxy S24 wasn’t the new Galaxy AI feature, the brighter screen or the strong camera. It’s battery life. After testing, I can say that the larger battery in the Galaxy S24 has no problem getting through a long day of use on a single charge.
The S24 is a beautiful, well-built phone that’s excellent out of the box just like the very similar S22 and S23 before it. This similarity to the S22 and S23 can be seen as either a strength because the design reflects three years of improvement, or a weakness because features like camera hardware are essentially the same as what was released in 2022.
