Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer to star in Robin Hood remake, ‘The Death of Robin Hood’
Deadline has reported that Oscar-nominated Hugh Jackman (“Les Misérables”) and Emmy winner Jodie Comer (“Killing Eve”) are set to breathe new life into the classic story of Robin Hood in the upcoming film, “The Death of Robin” . Acclaimed director Michael Sarnoski (“Pig”, “A Quiet Place: The First Day”) will write and direct this difficult re-imagining.
The film, which will go on sale at the Cannes Film Festival, promises a darker and more complex take on the iconic hero. This Robin Hood is haunted by his criminal past, a wounded warrior struggling with the consequences of his actions. When badly injured, a mysterious woman offers him a chance at redemption. Production is scheduled to begin in February 2025.
“The Death of Robin Hood” was fully financed by Lyrical Media and produced by Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett of Ryder Picture Company, with Alexander Black for Lyrical Media.
“This is not the Robin Hood we know,” said producers Ryder and Swett. “Michael has created something deeper and deeper. The world will love to see Hugh and Jodie together in this epic.”
Director Michael Sarnoski added, “It was an incredible opportunity to recreate this familiar story. Getting the perfect cast was essential, and I couldn’t be more excited to have Hugh and Jodie bring it to life.”
