Apple announces ‘frighteningly fast’ October event

Apple announced its second product event of the season, a month after introducing its new iPhone 15 lineup. A new iMac maybe.

The company sent invitations to members of the media for a keynote address scheduled for Monday, October 30 at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT, a later than usual start to the event. It can be accessed via live stream only; Apple usually hosts its product launches in person and online.

The slogan for the event – “scary fast” – clearly indicates the possible launch of the next generation silicon chip, M3, as well as Halloween. The company is expected to show off new iMac computers that have new powerful chipsets in a move that should also boost Mac sales. March sales have declined this year.

“Weak demand, excess inventory and a worsening macroeconomic climate are all contributing factors to the sharp decline in traditional PC shipments,” market research firm IDC said earlier this year.

Last year, Apple brought its M2 chip to its MacBook line. The 24-inch iMac is expected to get the M3 chip at an Apple event this year. At this point, there are no rumors about the launch of a new iPad.

Apple ( AAPL ) is launching its first in-house M1 silicon chipset for its 2020 computer lineup, moving away from years of one-size-fits-all options from Intel. At the time, Apple (AAPL) claimed it was the world’s fastest CPU core and fastest integrated graphics in a personal computer.

Last month, Apple launched its iPhone 15 device with a slimmer design, a more advanced primary camera system, customizable Action buttons and USB-C charging.
