David Beckham vs Mark Wahlberg: The F45 feud is reportedly heating up
Former Real Madrid star David Beckham is reportedly taking ‘Ted’ actor Mark Wahlberg to court for allegedly tricking the football icon into signing a contract with the F45 gym franchise.
The former England captain claims he lost more than $10 million when a promised stake in fitness brand F45 was held up until the share price dropped significantly.
The legal dispute began in October 2022 when Beckham and golf legend Greg Norman filed a lawsuit against F45.
At first, Beckham cooperated with Norman, who also had a grievance against F45, but the judge later told them to file their cases separately.
Beckham’s company, David Beckham Ventures Ltd (DBVL), initially sought about $18.85 million in damages.
Beckham’s firm, DB Ventures Ltd, now claims the Hollywood star has “tricked” the former footballer into working with F45.
According to The Sun, David is also suing the actor’s firm, Mark Wahlberg Investment Group (MWIG), and F45 gym group founders Adam Gilchrist and Rob Deutsch.
F45 founder Adam Gilchrist is not an Australian cricket legend, but just a namesake.
Asking the judge to dismiss the case, Wahlberg and his co-defendants said the allegations of “fraudulent conduct” were baseless.
Beckham and Wahlberg’s friendship dates back to 2007 when Beckham moved to Los Angeles to play for the LA Galaxy.
In 2020, Beckham became a global ambassador for F45, promoting the brand on social media. F45 has been in financial trouble, with stock prices collapsing and franchise closures around the world. Wahlberg became a minority shareholder in 2019.
