The Airbnb icon lets you drift off in an ‘Up’ house or relax in Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’ mansion

If you’ve ever wanted to dream of a balloon-lifted “Up” house, party with Kevin Hart or jam with Doja Cat, Airbnb has it.

The vacation rental company on Wednesday announced a new “Icons” category, a collection of “extraordinary experiences hosted by the biggest names in music, film, television, art, sports and more.”

“Icon takes you into a world that only existed in your imagination — until now,” Brian Chesky, co-founder and chief executive officer of Airbnb, said in a statement. “As life becomes increasingly digital, we’re focused on bringing more magic to the real world. With Icon, we’ve created the most extraordinary experience on Earth.”

Here are some of the entertainment-focused Icons announced so far:

Drift in the “Floating” house – “Sleep inside one of Disney and Pixar’s most iconic houses – and yes, it floats. You’ll explore Carl’s world in this detailed re-creation of his home, complete with more than 8,000 balloons, and located on the rocks beautiful red in Abiquiu, New Mexico.”

Go VIP with Kevin Hart – “Kevin Hart takes you inside his members-only Coramino Live Lounge for an A-list night. You’ll join Kevin and his friends in this secret speakeasy, where they’ll treat you to tequila tastings and live stand-up by best joker in the game.”

Join a living room session with Doja Cat – “Fresh off a tour performing on the world’s biggest stage, Doja invites you to a more intimate experience. You will enjoy an unforgettable living room performance from the Grammy-winning artist, including his favorite songs and tracks from his latest album.”

Stay at Prince’s “Purple Rain” home – “Prince bought the Minneapolis, Minnesota home featured in the legendary movie ‘Purple Rain’ but it has never been available to the public until now. Explore the home and groove to rare and special songs from Prince’s world in exclusive studio session.”

Gaming with Khaby Lame – “TikTok sensation Khaby Lame invites you to his hometown of Milan, Italy for an epic overnight gaming experience. You’ll live in a unique game loft designed by Khaby himself, where you’ll #learnfromkhaby and face him in Fortnite Battle Royale.”

Go on tour with Feid – “Join the reggaeton superstar on his week-long FERXXOCALIPSIS World Tour. You’ll join the crew for rehearsals, ride the tour bus, and get backstage access to each performance.”

Enter X-Men ’97 – “Live like the X-Men as you stay in the 2D animated re-creation of Marvel Animation’s X-Mansion in Westchester, New York. You will discover your mutant abilities and even practice in the Danger Room.”

Make core memories with “Inside Out 2” – “In anticipation of the release of Disney and Pixar’s new film on June 14, you’re invited to spend the night at Headquarters, Riley’s emotional control center. Your host, Joy, will welcome you into her vibrant world to witness emotions in action and help maintain balance.”

Other icons include spending the night at the Musée d’Orsay in Paris or visiting the home of Bollywood star Janhvi Kapoor. Experiences are featured in their own categories on the Airbnb platform. All are priced under $100 per guest, but only a limited number of requests will be selected for each experience via lottery.

Airbnb also launched other new features on its platform this week, including the ability for groups of guests to book trips together more easily.
