The Muslim Public Affairs Council condemned the call for the National Guard to be deployed against the protesters

Amid arrests of pro-Palestinian protesters across universities, the Muslim Public Affairs Council denounced calls to deploy the National Guard.

It said “rebellion against students with overwhelming military force has set a dangerous precedent for university administrations across the country.”

“The Muslim Public Affairs Council calls on people of conscience, including faculty and leaders, to oppose the threat to deploy the National Guard to the Gaza Solidarity Camp at Columbia University, which aims to reject the university’s continued financial investment in companies that profit from Israeli apartheid, murder en masse, and occupation in Palestine,” the council said in a statement today.
MPAC called for a reevaluation of the strategies used to handle protests on campuses across the country and said it supports “an approach that emphasizes mitigation and addresses student concerns through constructive means rather than coercion and intimidation.”

In a statement earlier on Tuesday, MPAC accused the White House of having a double standard in issuing a response condemning violence and physical intimidation against Jewish students at Columbia, but said the administration “has consistently failed to extend the same sentiments to students who face repeated violence, intimidation , doxing, and harassment for their pro-Palestinian advocacy.”
