Here’s what students at Columbia University had to say about the protest

There are growing tensions at Columbia University amid pro-Palestinian protests on the New York campus.

Student protesters against Israel’s attack on Gaza demanded that Columbia sever all financial ties with Israel.

“It’s kind of sad to see all this on campus. I will say I think a lot of people are misguided,” said Michael D’Agostino, a senior at the university.
Although most of the protests were nonviolent, some Jewish students expressed concern for their safety.

“Antisemitic comments and activity are rampant,” said Jessica Schwalb, a Jewish student at Columbia.

The university recently switched to hybrid classes due to security concerns, allowing students to take classes and final exams online.

“It’s become more difficult to go to class and everything. And things have changed so far,” said Rony Anyin, a sophomore.
