Crowds gather in Tel Aviv, marking 200 days of hostages being held in Gaza

Crowds gathered in Tel Aviv on Tuesday evening to mark 200 days of hostages being held by Hamas in Gaza.

A video shared with CNN shows protesters covering their mouths with duct tape that reads the number “200.”

Protesters marched through central Tel Aviv along Dizengoff Street, and visited the US embassy along the coast.

Family members of the hostages addressed the crowd gathered at Daran Tebusan, where a series of protests have been held since the October 7 attack.

Yamit Ashkenazi, whose sister Doron Steinbrecher is still detained in Gaza, shared his guilt, saying: “I’m afraid when my sister comes back, right before she hugs me and breaks her heart, she’ll ask me, ‘Where are you?'”

Negotiations between Israel and Hamas to secure the release of more hostages have so far been fruitless. During a call on Tuesday with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, US Vice President Kamala Harris reiterated the US commitment to seek “the release of all hostages.”
