Callum Turner bag lead role in cyberpunk series “Neuromancer” for Apple TV+

Callum Turner has reportedly been announced as the lead in the latest Apple TV+ adaptation of William Gibson’s groundbreaking cyberpunk novel, “Neuromancer.”

Production on the 10-episode series is underway, according to Variety.

The show follows Case (Turner), a hereditary hacker offered a chance at redemption in exchange for his skills in heist missions. Teaming up with the mysterious Molly Millions, Case will navigate the web of corporate espionage and high-stakes crime.

This marks Turner’s second lead role for Apple TV+, following his turn in the WWII drama “Masters of the Air.” The British actor is also known for his appearances in the “Fantastic Beasts” franchise and films such as “Green Room” and “The Boys in the Boat.”

“Neuromancer” was co-created by Graham Roland (showrunner) and JD Dillard (pilot director), with both attached as executive producers.

Joining them is Gibson himself, along with a team including producers from Skydance Television, Anonymous Content, and rapper Drake and Future’s production company – DreamCrew Entertainment.

Published in 1984, “Neuromancer” is credited with pioneering the cyberpunk genre and has won numerous awards, including the Hugo, Nebula and Philip K. Dick Awards.

The novel spawned sequels “Count Zero” and “Mona Lisa Overdrive,” but attempts to bring it to the big screen have so far been unsuccessful. Apple TV+’s “Neuromancer” appears to be the first live-action adaptation of Gibson’s seminal work.
