Soldiers killed two Palestinians in the West Bank, the Israeli military said
Israeli soldiers shot and killed two Palestinians at Beit Einun Junction, near Hebron, in the occupied West Bank on Sunday, in what the military said was an attempted attack on the army.
The Israel Defense Forces said that two men arrived at the intersection, and one of them “attempted to stab an IDF soldier who was in the area, who responded with live fire and neutralized him.”
Another man then “opened fire on the soldier, who returned fire and neutralized him as well,” the military said.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the West Bank named the two men as 19-year-old Muhammad Jabarin and 18-year-old Musa Jabarin.
A believed video of the incident, which CNN could not independently verify, shows a man leaning against the back of a large concrete block – often placed by the Israeli army at checkpoints and intersections to create barriers and block roads.
The man appeared motionless from his location and it was not clear in the video if he was holding anything in his hands. After about 30 seconds, a gunshot rang out and the man fell to the ground.
There is only one man in the video.
