Joe Alwyn, Matty Healy and Travis Kelce seem to be Taylor Swift’s latest inspirations

One thing about Taylor Swift is that she will rip out her own heart and spill the blood in the form of her song lyrics.

Welcome to the “Department of Tortured Poets.” Her latest music continues Swift’s tradition of sharing insights into her feelings and relationships in her songs.

The double album seems to be spilling some tea, and Swifties can’t drink it fast enough.

Let’s take a look at some of the songs and who his die-hard fans have decided about him.

“Department of Tortured Poets”
The song’s title could easily be attributed to British actor Joe Alwyn, who was quietly dating Swift before splitting after six years in early 2023. That’s because Alwyn and his friends – fellow actors Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott – previously shared a chat their group was titled, “Tortured Boys Club.”

Instead it looks like the song might be about 1975 band singer Matty Healy, who was first linked to Swift in 2014 and then, briefly, after her split from Alwyn.

Cues include the opening where Swift sings, “You left your typewriter in my apartment.” Healy expressed his fondness for typewriters in a 2019 interview with GQ magazine.

Healy is seen as problematic by some Swifties because of past controversies. “But Daddy I Love Him” on the new album is considered to address that as it takes on the theme of being in a relationship that is met with disapproval by others.

“So long, London”
It’s a safe bet that this single is about Alwyn, a Brit who tells Swift to spend some time across the pond from her native US.

The song mourns not only the loss of love, but also the loss of the good times they had in the city he adored.

“Thinking about how much sadness you think I have, do you think I have it in me?/ Oh, tragedy,” he sings. “All this time, London/You’ll find someone.”

Many see the new song as a follow-up to the single “London Boy”, which appeared on 2019’s “Lover” album, also believed to be about Alwyn.

“Alchemy”
Swift has moved on to happier times and unlike her personal relationship with Alwyn, her love for professional football player Travis Kelce is out loud. So it only makes sense that a song with all those sports references might be about its new star player.

“So when I land/ Call the amateurs and cut them off the team,” Swift sings. “Release the clown, get the crown / My darling that needs to be beaten.”

Way to score, Tay.

“thank you aIMee”
Honorable mentions also have to be given to other celebrities who may have broken Swift’s heart in different ways.

Since the uppercase letters in this song spell out “KIM,” listeners are convinced that this song, which on the surface appears to be about a school bully, is taking a swipe at Kim Kardashian.

The woman famously took issue with Kardashian’s then-husband, Kanye West, name-checking Swift in his song, “Famous.”

“To all my southern men who know me best/I think Taylor and I might still be having sex/Why? I made that b**** famous,” West raps over the song. Kardashian shared an edited video intended to prove that Swift had heard and approved the lyrics first, which Swift denied.

It all led to the whole “Taylor Swift is a snake” trend on social media, and Swift has talked about how she pulled herself into herself at the time.

In “thank you aIMee” Swift sings, “I changed your name and any obvious clues/ And one day, your son comes home singing a song that only the two of us know about you.”

Suffice it to say, there may be more than just Swift and the subject of the song known.
