The Rafah hospital director said the closure would have a severe impact on healthcare

The remaining field hospitals in Rafah’s eastern hospital area that were evacuated Monday will only be able to provide less than a third of the services offered, according to the hospital’s medical director.

The evacuation to Kareem “happened against our will” after the Israel Defense Forces told people east of Rafah they must leave the area, according to Abu Yusuf Najjar Hospital medical director Marwan Al-Homss.

Al Homss confirmed that the hospital is now non-operational, including the care of nearly 400 kidney dialysis patients. He said after it was closed, vandalism started which led to the theft of the fuel that ran the generator.

Hospital crews did not leave until all patients were evacuated, he said.

“They fear for their lives, and are afraid of being killed because of previous incidents where Israel abused patients and medical crews,” Al-Homss said.
“Now, with this hospital not operating, the remaining field hospitals will not be able to contribute 30% of the services provided by Abu Yusuf Najjar.”
Al-Homss said that in the past 48 hours, more than 56 people in the area had been killed, of which 40% were children.

CNN could not confirm its estimate.
