Princeton University students go on hunger strike
Some students at Princeton University in New Jersey have gone on hunger strike “in solidarity with Gaza,” according to a student protest group.
Princeton Israeli Apartheid Divest said that participants in the strike will withhold all food and drink – except water – until their demands are met.
Protesters demanded that the university disclose all its investments, divest from companies that “benefit from or are involved” in Israel’s “continued military campaign, occupation and apartheid policy,” and commit to a “full boycott of Israeli academia and culture.”
The students also want assurances that the protesters will receive a “full amnesty” from all criminal and disciplinary charges and that bans and expulsions against student protesters will be reversed.
At least 17 undergraduate students participated in the hunger strike as of Sunday, according to the Daily Princetonian student newspaper.
CNN has requested comment from Princeton.
