Drake’s mansion was targeted in a break-in and shooting, just a day apart
Canadian pop star Drake’s Toronto mansion was the target of an attempted break-in just a day after a shooting at the premises left a security guard in hospital.
USA Today has reported that around 2pm on Wednesday, Toronto Police Service officers were called to Drake’s home, after an individual attempted to gain access to the property.
The person was detained under the Ontario Mental Health Act, which indicates the non-criminal nature of the incident.
Under the act, authorities can detain individuals for examination if they are believed to have a mental disorder that could lead to serious injury, according to the Ontario government website.
According to the Ontario government website, under the act, individuals can be detained for examination by a doctor if officers believe they “appear to be suffering from (a) mental disorder” that could result in serious bodily injury, according to the Ontario government website.
It is not known if Drake was home at the time of the break-in.
Drake’s home had previously been the target of gunfire
Just a day earlier, at 2 a.m. on Tuesday, police were at Drake’s mansion looking for a suspect who fled in a vehicle after the shooting.
Drake’s security guard was shot outside the front fence of his residence and was rushed to a Toronto hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Toronto police inspector Paul Krawczyk mentioned that Drake’s team is cooperating with investigators, noting the ongoing feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, which recently intensified through their music.
