No aid to Gaza from southern crossing in three days, WFP says

The UN World Food Program (WFP) said in a social media post in X on Friday that the southern crossing to the Gaza Strip, where the main flow of aid passes through the enclave, has not received aid in three days.

Only one bakery is functioning in Rafah, a city where some 1.4 million Palestinians have been displaced, and the Israeli army is advancing with a ground invasion.

“Without the reopening of access, WFP operations will grind to a halt while families run out of food,” the organization said.
Elsewhere, there was a dispute this week over the reopening of the Kerem Shalom crossing. The Israeli agency that approves the passage of humanitarian aid to Gaza – COGAT – said on Thursday that the Kerem Shalom crossing had opened after being closed for several days.

However, Gaza Crossing Authority spokesman Hisham Adwan said on Thursday that the crossing remained closed for the fourth day in a row.

The Erez crossing in the north is also open, according to COGAT.

The UN and other aid agencies have long warned that not enough aid is reaching Gaza, which faces a humanitarian crisis.
