Chris Hemsworth admits getting caught up in “weirdness” led to ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ failure

Chris Hemsworth has opened up again about his time as Thor and his desire for more diverse roles.

In a candid Vanity Fair interview, the star admitted “Thor: Love and Thunder” didn’t hit the mark, with a tone so silly it made him feel like “a parody of myself.”

The Australian actor previously admitted to GQ magazine in an interview that the fourth installment of the stand-alone Thor movie was “too silly” for its own good.

Hemsworth’s success as an action hero continues with projects like “Extraction,” but he’s eager to expand. He hopes to work with famous directors such as Christopher Nolan, Kathryn Bigelow, Greta Gerwig, Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg. Darren Aronofsky is already developing potential projects with Hemsworth in mind – a dark comedy and science fiction venture.

The actress found a renewed passion playing the villain in George Miller’s “Furiosa.” He likens the experience to his transformative role in Ron Howard’s “Rush,” which moved him beyond his action star persona.

After a period of career burnout, Hemsworth feels “Furiosa” has reignited his excitement for acting. While a potential “Thor 5” remains on the table, Hemsworth wants it to be unpredictable and satisfying to fans. He is committed to keeping the characters fresh and avoiding audience fatigue.

“Furiosa” premiered in Cannes ahead of a May 24 theatrical release. Read Hemsworth’s full story on the Vanity Fair website.
